Needle Felting - Learning the basics

Very little space or equipment is required to do this lovely craft. All you need is a soft base to work on (usually a piece of foam) and special needles.

The needles have tiny barbs at the sharp end. As the needle is pushed through wool the barbs grab strands of the wool and pull them down.

As the wool has tiny scales on it the wool begins to become entangled together. The more the wool is stabbed with the needle the more firm the wool becomes.

This does take time but it is very rewarding when you see what amazing things you can create just from a needle and a bundle of wool!
