Saturday 13th June - Wet Felting

A Lovely Morning of Wet Felting

On Saturday 13th June, we hosted a Wet Felting workshop here at Feather Felts in Hunmanby, North Yorkshire. It was such a lovely morning, with three ladies joining us for a gentle and creative few hours of wool, water, soap, colour, and picture making.

Trying Something New Together

The three ladies were all from the same family, which made the morning feel especially warm and relaxed. They had been to us before, although one of the sisters was joining for the first time, and none of them had tried wet felting before. There was a real sense of excitement as they got started, choosing their colours and gradually building up their pictures by hand.

Three Completely Different Felted Pictures

One of the nicest parts of the workshop was seeing how different each picture became. Everyone worked from their own ideas and instincts, so although they were all using the same wet felting technique, the finished pieces each had their own character. They were all completely different, but every one of them was fantastic in its own way.

A Cheerful Creative Day

It was a happy, easy going workshop and a real pleasure to spend the morning with such a lovely family. There is something very special about watching people try a traditional craft for the first time and then leave with something they have made entirely by hand. I will include a few photographs from the day below, so you can see some of the beautiful wet felt pictures they created.

A gallery of photos from the day, including the wonderful finished pieces, can be found below.
