Saturday 25th April - Wet Felting

Updated: 7 days ago

A Lovely Morning of Wet Felting at Feather Felts

Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming eight lovely ladies to the Feather Felts workshop in Hunmanby. We enjoyed a cheerful morning of wet felting together. It was one of those relaxed, happy workshop days where everyone settled in quickly. Sleeves were rolled up, and soon the table was full of wool, colour, texture, and plenty of creativity.

Colour, Texture, and Plenty of Wool

Wet felting is such a satisfying craft! It was wonderful to see everyone getting stuck in and truly enjoying the process. There is something quite special about starting with soft wool fibres and gradually working them into a finished felted piece by hand. Each person chose their own colours and layout. Although everyone was learning the same traditional technique, every creation had its own unique character.

The Joy of Creating Together

As we worked, I noticed how the atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement. Everyone was eager to share their ideas and techniques. It’s amazing how crafting can bring people together. The joy of creating something beautiful is even more special when shared with others.

A Warm and Creative Workshop

The atmosphere throughout the morning was friendly, calm, and full of encouragement. There was lots of chatting and plenty of concentration. I loved that lovely moment when everyone began to see their work taking shape. It is always a joy to watch people discover how much can be made with wool, water, soap, and a little patience.

Discovering New Techniques

Throughout the workshop, I introduced various techniques to enhance our felting skills. We explored layering, blending colours, and even adding texture. Each technique opened up new possibilities for our creations. It was delightful to see the excitement on everyone's faces as they tried something new.

Sharing Inspiration

In addition to the techniques, we shared inspiration from our own experiences. Many of the ladies had their own stories about felting and crafting. Hearing about their journeys added a personal touch to the workshop. It reminded us all that creativity knows no bounds!

Thank You for Coming

A big thank you to all eight ladies who joined us for the workshop. It was a truly enjoyable morning, and I loved seeing all the finished wet felted pieces at the end. I will include some photographs from the day below, so you can see a little glimpse of what everyone made and the lovely creative morning we shared.
