Saturday 23rd August - Blue Whale

Updated: Aug 26, 2025

A Day of Blue Whales in Hunmanby

On Saturday 23rd August, four ladies joined me in Hunmanby for our Blue Whale needle felting workshop. With wool, needles, and plenty of tea on hand, we settled into a relaxed morning of making. The group quickly got into the rhythm of shaping their pieces, and it was lovely to see the whales begin to take form as the day went on.

Inspiration from the Coast

Being so close to the Yorkshire coast, it felt fitting to spend the workshop working on whales. The coastline always brings its own inspiration, and with the sound of conversation and laughter in the background, there was a sense of calm creativity in the room. Each model developed its own character, showing just how different and unique needle felting can be.

A Finished Pod

By the end of the workshop, we had a small pod of whales ready to swim home with their makers. It was a rewarding day, spent in good company with plenty of encouragement shared around the table. Hopefully, everyone left feeling happy with their finished whales and with the satisfaction of having created something by hand.
