A Lovely Afternoon in the Workshop
On Saturday 3rd May, I welcomed five ladies to Feather Felts workshop in Hunmanby for a Floppy Dog needle felting workshop. The kettle was on, the biscuits were out, and it wasn’t long before the room was filled with gentle chatter and the soft sound of wool being shaped and needled into life. There's something steadying about spending time with like-minded folk, all working away on the same little creature.
From Fluff to Floppy Dog
It didn’t take long for each person to settle into the rhythm, building up their models with care and attention. Needle felting always brings out individual flair, and that was clear in every Floppy Dog that took shape. Some sat tall, others had a tilt to their head – each one with its own charm. It was a real pleasure to watch everyone gain confidence with their tools and wool, and to see how a handful of Yorkshire wool and a few hours of focus could turn into something so characterful.
A Fine Way to Spend the Day
By the end of the session, we had five proud makers and five lovely dogs, each ready to be shown off at home. There’s a special kind of satisfaction that comes from making something with your hands, and even more so when you’re surrounded by good company and plenty of tea. A big thank you to the ladies who joined me – I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did.
