A Cosy Autumn Morning in Hunmanby
There’s something rather special about autumn in Yorkshire, the gentle shift in the air, the golden leaves gathering underfoot, and the soft light that makes everything feel that little bit calmer. On Saturday 4th October, we gathered at Feather Felts for a morning of creativity and good company. Three lovely ladies joined me for our Autumn Wreath Needle Felting Workshop, and together we embraced the season with wool, warmth, and plenty of tea.
Crafting Seasonal Magic
The table was set with rich autumn colours, warm oranges, deep greens, and earthy browns, ready to be shaped into pumpkins, berries, and foliage. With guidance and encouragement, everyone set to work, layering soft fibres and shaping their designs by hand. It’s always a joy to watch the quiet concentration turn into proud smiles as each wreath takes form, no two the same, each full of character and charm.
A Shared Love of Handmade
Workshops like these remind us just how satisfying it is to make something with your own hands. There was plenty of chatter, laughter, and the gentle tap of needles as wool turned into works of art. By the end of the morning, the ladies had each created a beautiful autumn wreath, complete with their own unique touches, from plump little pumpkins to twisting vines and delicate leaves. Each one reflected the maker’s own creativity, perfectly capturing the warmth of the season.
The Beauty of Autumn in Yorkshire
As the rain began to gently fall outside and the smell of tea filled the room, it felt like the perfect way to welcome October — calm, creative, and full of colour. It’s moments like these that make the change of seasons feel so special here in Yorkshire. Below you’ll find a gallery from the day, showing just how beautifully each wreath turned out, a real celebration of autumn’s beauty and the joy of handmade craft.
