A Sunday of Sheep and Felting
On Sunday 8th June, a couple of lovely ladies joined me in Hunmanby for a relaxed needle felting workshop, where the focus was on creating their own woolly sheep models. With cups of tea flowing and a bit of gentle Yorkshire chat, the day got off to a calm and steady start, just as it should. Each step was taken with care, from shaping the body to adding the finer details that gave each sheep its own little character.
From Fleece to Finished
Using British wool and traditional tools, we worked through the day in good company. There's something grounding about felting sheep in the heart of Yorkshire, where rolling fields and flocks aren’t too far from our doorstep. The sheep slowly took shape, and by the afternoon there were two cracking little characters ready to stand proudly at home. It’s always a pleasure to see how each maker puts their own subtle spin on the same project.
A Quiet Success
The atmosphere throughout the day was relaxed, with plenty of time for chat and laughter in between the careful pokes of the needle. It’s a small group setting that works best, there’s time to slow down, share a few stories, and enjoy the process. The sheep models looked fantastic by the end, and hopefully the ladies went home with full hearts and woolly friends they’re proud of. A proper Yorkshire Sunday well spent.
